WSS: Regiment Dragonders van Dopff

The next addition to my Allied forces for the War of the Spanish Succession is a squadron of Dutch dragoons from the Regiment Dragonders van Dopff:

The figures are from Black Hat, they were painted by Roger, based by me and the flag is from Warflag.

WSS: French Commander

I decided that I needed a command stand for my French army for the War of the Spanish Succession and it needed to be different from the Brigade level officers.  So I went for a simple double figure stand:

As with the remainder of my collection the figures are from Black Hat and were painted by Roger - I just based them.

The Mutiny: A Flag for the 3rd BLC

Thanks to the generous folks over at the Grimsby Wargames Society I now have a flag for my unit of Bengal Light Cavalry.  I decided they should represent the 3rd BLC Regiment which mutinied at Meerut:

WSS: Erbprinz von Hesse-Kassel's Dragoons

The next unit for my collection is one from Hessel-Kassel - Erbprinz Freidrich von Hasse-Kassel's Regiment of Dragoons:

WSS: Earl of Essex's Dragoons

My final unit of British dragoons is one which actually only had a limited involvement in the War of the Spanish Succession but which could have been greater.  They are the Earl of Essex's Regiment of Dragoons.  Some of the regiment did fight at the Battle of Almanza in 1707.

WSS: Ross' (Irish) Dragoons

Moving back to my War of Spanish Succession project, my next unit is a squadron of British dragoons from Ross' Regiment of Dragoons which subsequently became the Royal Dragoons of Ireland.

Originally raised in 1689 as Wynne's Regiment of Dragoons, they fought at the Battle of the Boyne and the Battle of Aughrim under William III.  On Wynne's death in 1695, Charles Ross (who had served with the Regiment in Ireland) was appointed its Colonel.  The regiment went on to fight in the War of the Spanish Succession at the Battles of Blenheim, Ramillies, Oudenarde and Malplaquet.

The figures are from Black Hat, the flags are from Warflag and, as with my other War of Spanish Succession figures they were painted by my friend Roger and based up by me.

The Mutiny: A Flag for the 53rd

In another little break between basing figures for the War of Spanish Succession, I decided to add a flag to the 53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot I have for the Indian Mutiny:

You have seen the figures before and, as with the majority of the Mutiny collection they are from Mutineer Miniatures.  The flag is from Flags of War (and, yes, technically its correct for the Napoleonic wars but I think it works) - it looks a bit brighter in the photo than in reality - largely as I was using a flash (yes, I know I shouldn't) as the lighting in the games room was hopeless today.
